The federal government had created the National Do Not Call Registry a free, easy way to reduce the telemarketing calls they get at home. To register their phone number or to get intimation about the registry, call 1-888-382-1222 from the phone number they want to register. They will get fewer telemarketing calls within 31 days of registering their number. Their number will stay on the registry to five years, until it is disconnected, or until they take it off the registry. After five years, they will be able to renew their registration.
